the majestic Langeberge. It is an important wine producing and fruit processing centre and home to five wineries and two large canneries. |

Cruising down the river Enjoy the wines of Viljoensdrift on the banks of the Breede River. Light lunches are served. Spent a relaxing hour cruising down the river on a raft. Mountain Biking Take the mountain bike trail (approximately 29km or 18 miles) through Wildepaardehoek, that is rich in wild life. Rhebuck in the early morning and late afternoon. Maps at the Tourism Bureau. Hanging from a cliff Two kilometers (1.25 miles) beyond Ashton, in Cogmans Kloof, are spectacular cliffs for rock climbing.
Old English Fort In Cogmans Kloof, about 4 kilometers from Ashton (2.5 miles) The fort dates back to 1899 and the Anglo Boer War. Steam Locomotive Next to the Municipal Offices, Main Road. Locomotive no 2010 class 14 CRB was commissioned in 1919 and used on the Worcester-Mossel Bay rail section until 1983. Hiking Trails Beautiful day walks in the surrounding foothills allow visitors to take a closer look at our famous fynbos. Panoramic vista Follow the road markers to the viewing point for a spectacular view and excellent photo opportunities. |
